Terry Da Libra has been an integral part of Silk Music’s musical journey for over a decade, and it is fair to say that Terry music and our label’s sound have evolved in a parallel trajectory: we’ve incorporated deeper textures and atmospheres into our releases, as we’ve aged. Terry’s latest offering, “On My Mind,” explores the underappreciated sonic terrain of chilled progressive breaks. The song kicks off with a stirring and suspenseful piano melody and swelling string theme (both recurring motifs in the song), backed by a looping, hypnotic arp line. Soon thereafter, we are first introduced to the titular vocal hook, as well as a sci-fi influenced new lead theme. All of these melodic elements steadily crescendo throughout the track, evoking the image of an increasingly stormy sea, an age-old metaphor for an increasingly turbulent period or relationship in one’s life. Terry eloquently conveys the existential angst felt throughout the world at this time.
